Once you're checked in and fitted with a wetsuit, you'll head down to the beach where you'll meet your instructor and be given a board and rash guard.

Instructors will review the rules and boundaries of the La Jolla Ecological Preserve, as well as ocean safety and surf etiquette before leading stretches, and some quick energizing activities.

After that, instructors will lead a ground school where you'll learn and practice the fundamental skills of surfing like surf positions, paddle positions, and popping up on your board before heading into the water to catch some waves! While in the water, you'll start out in the shallow area and gradually go farther out to deeper waters to catch waves, depending on how comfortable you feel.

Challenge by Choice: Instructors respect each student's choice regarding his or her level of participation in the lesson.
